AMU School Admission & Entrance Preparation

Plan for Class VI or Class IX with the correct eligibility, written-test pattern, interview stage, official updates and a focused preparation route.

RAAH provides independent preparation and guidance. Final eligibility, selection and admission are decided by Aligarh Muslim University.

2026–27 official guide

AMU school-entry routes

The 2026–27 admission cycle has concluded. Wait for the 2027–28 official guide before publishing new application dates or age cut-offs.
Choose Entry Class

Which AMU school-entry class are you preparing for?

AMU’s 2026–27 school-admission guide offered admission applications for Classes I, VI and IX. RAAH’s entrance-preparation focus here is Class VI and Class IX.

6
Class VI

AMU Class VI Admission Test

Preparation based on Class V-level CBSE/NCERT content, with Languages, Mathematics and Environmental Studies followed by the interview stage for shortlisted candidates.

9
Class IX

AMU Class IX Admission Test

Preparation based on Class VIII-level CBSE/NCERT content, covering Languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Science before the interview stage.

AMU School Options

Understand the school and medium before choosing preparation

AMU’s school system includes different schools for boys and girls and, for some routes, English- or Urdu-medium options. The exact school choices and intake should always be checked in the applicable annual guide.

🏫

S.T.S. School

The 2026–27 guide listed S.T.S. School among the available options for relevant boys’ admission routes.

🏫

RMPS AMU City School

Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School appeared among the school options in the 2026–27 admission guide.

🏫

AMU Girls / ABK Schools

The annual guide also lists designated girls’ and AMU ABK school options according to class and admission route.

Hostel availability is limited and admission does not itself guarantee hostel accommodation. The 2026–27 guide specifically limited hostel availability to certain schools/classes.
Current Official Status

Do not publish inferred dates, fees, cut-offs or test schedules until AMU issues the next official guide.

Eligibility Guidance

Use the annual AMU guide—not last year’s age rule

The following eligibility is a 2026–27 reference. The 2027–28 cut-off date and age band must be verified again when the new guide is released.

2026–27 reference · Class VI

Class V + age requirement

The candidate had to pass Class V from a recognised/registered school and be between 10 and 12 years of age as on 31 March 2026.

2026–27 reference · Class IX

Class VIII + age requirement

The candidate had to pass Class VIII from a recognised/registered school and be between 13 and 15 years of age as on 31 March 2026.

AMU’s guide states that eligibility rules are strictly applied and are not relaxed. A one-day age difference can affect eligibility, so calculate against the official cut-off date.
Written Test & Interview

AMU School Admission Test pattern — 2026–27 reference

For Classes VI and IX, AMU used an 85-mark written test followed by a 15-mark interview for shortlisted candidates. OMR answer sheets were used for the written test.

Preparation Plan

Prepare for both written test and interview

A good AMU preparation plan should not stop with subject revision. Students also need OMR accuracy, time management and interview readiness.

1

Foundation

Revise the relevant Class V or Class VIII NCERT-level concepts systematically.

2

Language section

Practise English, Urdu and Hindi carefully because the written-test language section has its own qualifying requirement.

3

OMR & mocks

Practise objective questions, OMR marking and full two-hour mock tests.

4

Interview

Shortlisted students should practise clear self-expression and age-appropriate interaction without scripted answers.

Class VI focus

  • Languages: English, Urdu and Hindi
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies
  • OMR and timed practice

Class IX focus

  • Languages: English, Urdu and Hindi
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Science
  • OMR and timed practice
