Four details help us identify relevant schools
For state and residential schools, location and eligibility can matter as much as the child’s academic preparation.
State / UT
Tell us where the student resides and which state school schemes you want to explore.
Current Class
The child’s present class determines which entry routes may be relevant.
Intended Entry Class
Specify whether you are seeking Class VI, VII, VIII, IX, XI or another route.
Category / Eligibility
Some schemes include domicile, tribal-status, income, category or school-location requirements.
EMRS admission guidance
Eklavya Model Residential Schools are run under the National Education Society for Tribal Students, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
Residential Education
EMRS aims to provide quality upper-primary, secondary and senior-secondary education to eligible tribal students.
Main Entry Route
NESTS issues central admission guidelines, while State/UT EMRS societies implement the applicable admission process.
Vacancy-Based Routes
Lateral admission may be available in Classes VII, VIII, IX and XI subject to vacancies and applicable guidelines.
Vacancy-based admission can extend beyond Class VI
NESTS’s lateral-entry guidelines allow admission against vacancies in selected higher classes. Actual availability depends on the State/UT and the individual EMRS.
Lateral Entry
Admission may be offered against available vacancies.
Lateral Entry
Availability depends on the applicable state and school notification.
Lateral Entry
Entrance through the prescribed lateral-entry process may be available.
Vacancy-Based Entry
Class XI admission may be available where vacancies exist and criteria are met.
OAVET / OMAVET admission routes
Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas are CBSE-affiliated model schools established by the Government of Odisha. Admission is through the applicable common entrance process.
Direct Entry
OAVET-2026 invited candidates for direct admission to Class VI.
Lateral Entry

Lateral Entry
Class VIII entry depends on available vacancies in participating OAVs.
Lateral Entry
Class IX lateral admission is also offered against available seats.
OAVET-2026 has moved through the selection process
The official OAVS website shows 2026–27 selection and waiting-list activity, so parents should wait for the next official notification before treating future dates as confirmed.
Selection Lists
Official OAV pages published Class VI and lateral-entry selection results during March 2026.
Waiting Lists
Further admission notices and waiting-list rounds continued after the initial selection.
Additional Waiting Lists
The official site continued to publish additional waiting-list updates into June 2026.

RAAH Reviews the Route

Explore PreparationCommon questions about residential-school admissions
Is there one common residential-school entrance exam?
No. Different schemes have different eligibility, applications and examination systems. For example, EMRS and OAV follow their own separate admission frameworks.
Can RAAH tell me which residential schools are available in my state?
Yes. Share the state, district, child’s present class and intended entry class. RAAH can then identify relevant routes for review.
Is EMRS open to every student?
EMRS is primarily intended to provide residential education to eligible tribal students. Exact eligibility should be checked from the current NESTS and State/UT EMRS notification.
Which classes does OAVET cover?
For 2026–27, OAVET provided direct Class VI admission and lateral entry to Classes VII, VIII and IX against available vacancies.
Does every state residential school require coaching?
No. Some routes involve an entrance examination, while others may rely on different selection rules. First verify the route, then decide whether exam preparation is needed.
Does RAAH guarantee admission?
No. RAAH provides independent guidance and preparation. Eligibility, merit, seat availability and final admission remain with the relevant school or authority.
